When people ask me “What are your favorite family’s traditions?” Well I don’t really have any. Growing up I never quite had “traditions”. Well we did moved a lot-if that counts? That’s something I don’t want to carry on. My husband on the other hand has many traditions.. Growing up, Kaycee’s parents were always taking them on adventures. Kaycee’s favorite adventure was camping. So this past weekend he took us on one heck of an adventure. We loaded up the horses and headed south. We grabbed our sleeping bags and slept in our horse trailer.
The next morning we went for a little trail ride and ended our day back around the camp fire.
Kaycee cooked the family some camp fire 🔥 cheese burgers.
We roasted marshmallows because what’s camping with out s’mores. We had a blast and I can’t wait to do it again. This stage in life is so FUN. One thing I have learned is you can’t get back time and time with my family trumps everything. Who cares about the little things like if the house is a mess. Are you going to look back and think about how clean your house was or that one camping trip you spontaneously packed up and got away for the weekend and left the mess behind? I’d definitely say that spontaneous camping adventure. Enjoying those little ones while they still want to spend the weekends with you. I personally am dreading the day my kids would rather go with friends than with me. So enjoy this stage, because its really is the very best. The stage where they can fit their entire little selves in your lap to snuggle. The stage where the kids fight over who gets to snuggle you. It’s the stage where you get to see Christmas, Halloween and the Fourth of July through your kids eyes, and it’s so much more fun and magical than it would be just through your own eyes. Nothing compares to that. Also, it’s this time in life that as a couple you grow, learn and love more than you ever thought you could.
