Gilbert Kills Pretty Enemy III, Ta Sunka Gi’ hetchia (Chameleon Horse) is a full blood Hunkpapa Lakota and a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
Gilbert was a member of the crew who created a 14 foot (H) X 18 foot (W) X 18 foot (D) sculpture titled “Thunderbirds” that was commissioned by the Bismarck Parks and Recreation District, Bismarck, North Dakota.
In 2013 he created three poster designs for “The Lakota Peoples Law Project” and won an HONORABLE MENTION in the FALL 2013 issue of “Tribal College Journal”. He has also created many Standing Rock area businesses logos, and shirt designs. He is also a two-time recipient of a grant from the First Peoples Fund.
As Chameleon Horse Art and Design has flourished, Gilbert still nds time to pursue two long-term projects that he is passionate about. A Lakota language book based on Iktomi stories and his own superhero comic book he named “AKICITA”(aKee-Chee- Tah). This past year Gilbert began volunteering at the local “Boys and Girls Club” to teach art to area youth.
