Meet the Elite Crew of Rodeo Fame Magazine

The ONLY Crew that Takes You Inside the Lives & World of the Modern Day Rodeo

April Patterson | Founder

What’s your super power? I can make people relax and be themselves. I can dance and block the whole world out- as long as the song is good.
What makes you passionate about what you do? I always see the big picture. For me, the end result always involves benefiting someone other than myself and this keeps me passionate.
Advice for younger self? People think too much about what others are thinking of them instead of listening to what God is thinking of them. Zero in on listening to your own heart and the voices that matter, not the voices and opinions of people who don’t care about you.
What rodeo events are your favorite ? Bull fighting and any event where there is a lot of money up for grabs.
What one rule would you make in life? Everyone has to act out and sing their emotions to each other- it’s weird but when I listen to music I imagine the people I know acting the song out and dancing to it. I use to make my siblings participate in music videos.
How did it make you feel the moment you realized you could do what you loved in life? I have always known I could do what I love but it’s been a process figuring out what I truly love doing and what I am good at. I still struggle seeing what I am good at other than dreaming or talking about what the Lord has done in my life.
Favorite 80s or 90s jam? Barbie Girl by Auqa, Black or White by Michael Jackson, Wannabe by Spice Girls and obviously all of Bryan White’s songs -especially, ‘Your Still Beautiful to Me’ (he pretty much wrote that song for me).
3 things you love and take great pleasure in ? Spending time with Jesus and my family, camping (real camping), appreciating music and dance from other cultures.
What have your learned working with Rodeo Fame? When our strengths are combined we can accomplish great and mighty things! The more people involved in a project can be a GREAT thing but if communication is not there- pretty much expect disaster.
What are a few things about you that most people don’t know? I actually enjoy being by myself. I enjoy visiting elderly people and listening to their stories-probably because my best friends when I was younger was my grandparents and my great grandma. She had a injured leg so I would rub her feet while we watched the news and she would tell me about Jesus and how he was her best friend. I have journaled all my life and I am the kind that writes everything down so when my dad read my journal- let’s just say I was furious. I have dealt with major anger issues in my life. My favorite color is the rainbow. when I see people it’s near impossible for me to not see something very unique and beautiful about them, even if they bother the shit out of me. I listen to latin music with the windows down. I want to learn to play the piano and drums! Afro or dreads are my dream hair. The first guy I dated was my husband, he won my heart when he held my hair back when I was throwing up after I got food poisoning on our first date. That’s true love.

Erin Jusseaume | Journalist

What’s your super power? Flying because I can get up and go anywhere anytime and don’t have to save for flights.
What makes you passionate about what you do? I see what isn’t spoken about within the rural journalism and rodeo industry that frustrates me and it drives me to be an authentic journalist. Even main stream media gets it wrong which makes me passionate about giving them a reason to care.
Advice for younger self? Learn to recognize people who don’t have your best interest in mind.
What rodeo events are your favorite ? Team roping, barrel racing, bull riding.
What one rule would you make in life? Follow your gut.
How did it make you feel the moment you realized you could do what you loved in life? This was an unexpected journey so it is still a surreal thing for me. I believe once I reach my goal for what I want to achieve it will become “that” moment.
Favorite 80s or 90s jam? Not a huge 80’s fan, but good solid rock is awesome. Bon Jovi, Cher, Arrowsmith, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullets. For 90’s I’m a huge fan of early 90’s country music. But enjoy other genre’s of music as well.
3 things you love and take great pleasure in ? My work ethic and drive, photography, and figuring out number three since I moved to the USA.
What have your learned working with Rodeo Fame? I’ve learned so many things from the entire crew. I’ve learned that good work teams do exist and members do become more than friends. I also learned to find the path back to God, thanks to April.
What are a few things about you that most people don’t know? I am an only child. I won my first National Title in 2009. My dream was to train western performance horses but have now found where I fit into my sport. I played a lot of different sports as a kid. I take chances and I may seem confident on the outside though I am a ball of nerves on the inside. I figure if I am to live to my own beat, scared or not, I have to push through it and go where I need to even if it’s on my own.

What are a few things about you that most people don’t know? I won the Hard Luck Award at the National High School Finals Rodeo my senior year of high school because of a bad wreck I had in the cutting.
